Our June meeting was a real treat. Many members were on vacation so the size of the group seemed "just right" for a nice discussion. We enjoyed wine along with cherries, crackers and cheese.
Carol Smith was our speaker. She began quilting in 1975, and in 2012 completed “A Course on Judging Quilts and Wearable Art” from the West Coast Quilt Judging Academy. She lectures and conducts workshops for guilds on “Quilt Judging” and has assisted in the judging process for both quilt shows and car shows.

Kari showed some stencils she has done with Tsukineko inks -her current favorite medium.
She says she is still figuring out how to use these combined with techniques learned from Jean Wells.

Susan Spicer holds a flier from the Crocker's current quilt display. She she gave the show a great review and was especially impressed with the crazy quilts - such as the one on the flier, made by Mary Todd Lincoln's seamstress - whose name I don't have but surely someone can fill us in on that detail.
News for our Art Quilters
We are happy to learn one of the 'special" awards in the RCQG show next year will be for best use of embellishment.
Another really good reason to enter the show. Lets challenge each member of our group to enter at least two pieces!
