About Pins & Needles Art Quilyting

The Pins & Needles Art Quilters group is a neighborhood circle formed from members of River City Quilter’s Guild. We meet once a month to exchange information about art quilts, to share and critique our work, to pursue exhibitions and competitions, and publishing options. We currently have over twenty dedicated members from varied backgrounds. We challenge our group monthly to try new techniques, or themes, to explore mixed media options, and to share new discoveries.

Our group’s work is regularly shown at the River City Quilter’s Guild annual show in Sacramento, California. Our members’ work has also been shown at several national and international shows, as well as in local venues.

April 2015

Susan Schwarting shared the round-robin quilt that she and a bay-area friend made. Susan started in the middle and sent it by mail; the friend added a border and sent it back. The quilt was sent back and forth about six times before Susan finished it. Great teamwork!

Our newest member, Willie Beaudet, shared some of her recent work, including two Sand Castle designs...

...And a turtle.
Lori Wisheropp finished a rag quilt for her husband, made with fabric from various trips to Alaska.
Helen Burke showed us a bag that someone made for her.
Sheila Green led us in a discussion about the
 nature of Art vs. Craft.

January 2015

We begin the new year happily gathered and full of new ideas.

Carol Girard brought Maria Elkins' DVD, Making Faces. Our first challenge this year is Self Portraits so this was especially appreciated.
